Johns: Volunteer Firefighter Benefit Law Extended To Better Provide Coverage For Volunteer Firefighters Against Cancer

A Statement from Assemblyman Mark Johns (R,C,I,Ref-Webster) on the Passage of A.711-B
June 20, 2017

I am very proud to live in a community where so many men and women selflessly volunteer as firefighters and emergency personnel. They fight every day to safeguard our lives, homes, businesses and neighborhoods from flames, flooding and all kinds of emergencies. The least our state can do is to support them if they become ill with diseases like cancer, and that’s why I am proud to sponsor legislation that extends the Volunteer Firefighter Benefit Law. This measure has been passed in both houses and is on its way to becoming law. I am thrilled that those who put their lives on the line for us will now be better protected.
