Johns: Reform Will Help Rein In Spending, Protect Taxpayers

A Statement from Assemblyman Mark Johns (R,C,I,Ref-Webster)
January 16, 2018

Too many families are being broken up because of the high taxes in this state, forcing hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to move out of state to find better jobs and a more affordable place to call home. I have a number of bills that will save the state hundreds of millions of dollars annually and in light of the new federal tax code we should consider my long-standing proposals. This year’s budget must address those taxes. We need to lower taxes, create jobs and keep people here.

While I review the details on these priorities from the governor’s legislation, I am encouraged that he plans to include funding to help New Yorkers along Lake Ontario who are still struggling to overcome last year’s flooding and who fear potential flooding again this spring. As my constituents know, this is an issue I have worked very hard on, and I will continue to do everything in my power to deliver relief for the communities and people impacted.
