Walsh Appointed Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore

Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I-Ballston) today announced that she has been appointed the Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore by Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski). In this new role, Walsh will be instrumental in preparation of legislative debates and managing all floor activity for the Minority Conference.

“It is a great honor to have received the appointment as the Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore going into the 2020 Legislative Session,” said Walsh. “Since day one in Albany I have done all that I can to immerse myself in the inner-workings of the legislative process and work side-by-side with my colleagues to promote the values of our conference. I have learned how important it is to highlight problematic parts of legislation and conduct thoughtful debate so that our colleagues on the other side of the aisle have the ability to see it from an alternative perspective.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Minority Leader Barclay for appointing me to this position. I look forward to working with him, Assemblyman Andy Goodell (R,C,I-Jamestown) and all the members of our conference to keep up the good fight and make our voices heard.”

Walsh will replace Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square), who was appointed Ranking Minority Member on the Assembly Committee on Ways and Means.

“I’m pleased to announce that Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh has been appointed as the conference’s Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tempore,” Leader Barclay said. “Since her first day in office, Mary Beth has been among the most highly respected members of the Assembly because of her dedication, intelligence and commitment to her constituents. As we take up critical legislation in our chamber this year, our conference will be fortunate to have Mary Beth helping to drive the debate and guide our legislative agenda.”
