Walsh Stands Alongside Law Enforcement Calling For Repeal Of Bail Reform

A statement from Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I-Ballston)

“Since implementation there have been well over 100 examples of the new bail reform laws failing our state. Each day, we hear another devastating story of individuals being victimized as a result of these changes,” said Walsh. “There is no doubt a need for criminal justice reforms in our state, but ignoring the objections from our district attorneys, police officers and courts, and passing the legislation in the middle of the night, was dangerous. We need to go back to the drawing board and ensure that any criminal justice reforms prioritize public safety for all New Yorkers. I was proud to stand alongside law enforcement officials today in Albany to call for the full repeal of bail reform. Our voices have been heard. It’s time to act.”
