Walsh: Assembly Majority Cancel Session

A statement from Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C,I-Ballston)

“Assembly Majority decided to cancel session today to avoid voting on an amendment to revoke Gov. Cuomo of his emergency powers – an action that is months overdue and necessary to address ahead of voting on any important bills, including the 2021-2022 budget.

“Many Assembly Majority has been saying that they want to revoke the governor’s emergency powers, which have led to hundreds of directives that have controlled every aspect of the lives of New Yorkers for almost a year. However, when push comes to shove, they lay bills aside and today, outright cancelled session, to avoid voting on it.

“As residents across our state continue to grapple with the effects of the pandemic, we should be working to provide relief to them instead of not showing up to work.”
