Putnam Valley Cheerleading Champions Celebrated in Albany

Assemblyman Matt Slater (R,C-Yorktown) and Sen. Rob Rolison invited the Putnam County cheerleading team to Albany yesterday to celebrate their 2023 NYS Championship win. The Putnam Valley Tigers, on November 5, 2023, won their first-ever state championship in Binghamton and were led by their head coach Kelly Wilson, Captain Cameron and principal of Putnam Valley High School Matt Mellow.

“As a community, we are inspired by their accomplishment and commitment. I want to give huge congratulations to the team, coaches, parents and Putnam Valley community on this historic win. We were honored to celebrate them here in Albany and we can’t wait to continue to cheer them on this year,” said Slater.

“Congratulations to the Tigers on their well-deserved championship. Along with my friend and colleague Assemblyman Matt Slater, I was thrilled to celebrate our champions in both chambers of the state Legislature. This stunning achievement not only brings pride to our community, but it inspires others to follow in the footsteps of these scholar-athletes. Thanks to the guidance and vision of Coach Kelly Wilson and the dedication and talent of her team, I'm confident Putnam Valley can continue its winning ways in 2024 and beyond,” said Sen. Rob Rolison.

“It was an honor to join Senator Rolison, Assemblyman Slater, and the Tigers to celebrate their historic championship in Albany this week. Section 1 has some of the finest athletes in the entire state, and I’m proud to represent Putnam Valley and communities like it across the Hudson Valley,” said Congressman Mike Lawler.
