Assemblymember Hunter Hosts Annual Valentines for Vets Event

Assemblymember Pamela J. Hunter (D-Syracuse) hand-delivered Valentine’s Day cards from students at Van Duyn Elementary School to veterans at Clear Path for Veterans in Chittenango and the Syracuse VA Medical Center as part of her annual Valentines for Vets event on Wednesday. Hunter met with newly appointed hospital director Dr. Judy Hayman and then passed out Valentine’s Day cards to local veterans. “This event gives students the chance to celebrate and thank veterans for their service to our country,” Hunter said. “Receiving Valentine’s Day cards can brighten their day and put smiles on their faces. Valentine’s Day is about the people we treasure. Today – and every day – is an opportunity to show appreciation to these brave men and women.” Hunter – the only female veteran in the state Legislature and chair of the Assembly Subcommittee on Women Veterans – partners with local schools each year to bring Valentine’s Day cards to veterans in the community and recognize their service and their selfless sacrifices.
