Palmesano April ‘Grants Action News’ Update

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) is sending his “April Grants Action News Update” to residents, organizations and local governments about a series of grants available from the state, federal government and private entities. Each month, the Assembly provides an updated list of grants for a variety of categories. “During a time of economic recovery, grants can play an integral part in helping our local communities complete needed infrastructure repairs or support under-funded projects,” said Palmesano. “Many people don’t realize the scope of available opportunities because they aren’t sure where to look. The ‘Grants Action News’ bulletin makes finding these grants much easier by consolidating the information and making it available to everyone. I hope residents, organizations and local governments throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions will be able to use this resource to find much-needed support to strengthen communities in our rural area.” The Grants Action News bulletin is updated at the beginning of each month with newly-available grants and information on how to apply. Continuing his monthly updates, Palmesano will be providing regular updates on his Assembly website at: http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/Philip-A-Palmesano, as well as posts to his Facebook page – just like “Assemblyman Phil Palmesano” to stay up-to-date on new grant information. The update can be accessed here: http://nyassembly.gov/write/upload/pdfs/20180401_80531.pdf

NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance, Operational Support for AIDS Housing (OSAH) The intent of OSAH is to help establish and maintain a continuum of residential opportunities for previously homeless persons with HIV/AIDS and their families living in supportive housing created through or renovated with the Homeless Housing and Assistance Program (HHAP). Many applicants for housing for persons with HIV/AIDS find it difficult to secure adequate funding both to maintain the physical residence and meet the support services needs of residents. RedRover, Safe Housing Off-Site Grants RedRover’s Safe Housing grants offer multiple solutions to help domestic violence shelters aid families in escaping with their animals. Often, people will not leave an abusive situation if they know they will have to leave an animal behind. These grants can help to build pet housing at the domestic violence shelter, or help domestic violence shelters work with partners in the community to offer other pet housing options. RedRover Relief Safe Housing grants for off-site building enable domestic violence shelters to partner with another local organization, such as an animal shelter or rescue sanctuary, to build housing at their facility specifically for animals whose owners are staying at the domestic violence shelter.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be a 501(c) (3), have a primary mission of sheltering victims of domestic violence and partner with a licensed animal care facility.
  • Funding: Up to $20,000 may be requested to pay for building materials and supplies to create dedicated housing for the pets of people staying at a domestic violence shelter where pets aren’t allowed.
