Assemblymember Bichotte Co-Hosts Largest Gathering of Haitian Diaspora for the 6th Annual National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) Conference

New York, NY - To highlight ways that leaders and professionals in the Haitian diaspora are advancing growth and development in Haiti, the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP) is hosting its 6th Annual National Conference this week from Thursday, November 2 - Saturday, November 4, 2017 in New York, NY. This year's theme is: "Diaspora Economics: Identifying Economic Opportunities for Haitians in the Diaspora and at Home in Education, Business, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development."

With the recent launch of ”Little Haiti" in Brooklyn, having the largest gathering of the diaspora at New York University Law School, with an expected attendance of over 500, underscores the cultural pride that "Little Haiti BK" represents. The line-up includes nine Members of Congress as part of the Honorary Congressional Host Committee, five global ambassadors, senior-level policy makers and government officials from both the U.S. and Haiti, Haitian American entrepreneurs, higher education administrators, students and Haitian American political operatives.

This year's host committee includes, Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte, NY State Assembly (District 42); Assembly Member Kimberly Jean-Pierre, NY State Assembly (District 11); Cassandra Theano, Associate Legal Officer, The Justice Initiative; Dr. Jean G. Orelien, CEO, SciMetricka and Scitovation; and Magdalah Racine-Silva, President and CEO, DMS International.

"It is so exciting to be a host committee member for the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals here in my hometown of New York City," said Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte, Chair of the Subcommittee on the Oversight of Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises. "This is the largest meeting of Haitian professionals in the country, which connects attendees on all levels of their career from students to seasoned professionals in their field. I look forward to taking part in this year's conference especially in the areas of government, and economic development."

Some of the speakers for this year's conference from the New York area include: Judge Dweynie Paul, Kings County Civil Court, Assembly Member Michaelle Solages, NY State Assembly (District 22), and Assembly Member, Clyde Vanel, NY State Assembly (District 33). Among other notable speakers are: Dr. Jeff Gardere, America's Psychologist, Karl A. Racine, Attorney General of the District of Columbia, Ambassador Paul Altidor, Ambassador of Haiti to the United States of America, Ambassador Kenneth Merten, Acting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Haiti Special Coordinator, Jean Baden Dubois, Governor of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (central bank), Ambassador Danielle Saint Lôt, Judge Lionel Jean-Baptiste and many more.
