March 2, 2012: I met with physicians and staff at Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo to discuss the upcoming move to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The physicians and staff at the hospital are working diligently to ensure a smooth transition and I look forward to working with them as this project develops.
April 3, 2012: I attended the Grant Amherst Business Association meeting to talk about the need to reform our IDA system and about the important things included in this years budget.
April 2, 2012: I held a Town Hall meeting to discuss the need to reform the IDA system in Erie County. Many people talked about the many problems with our IDAs, including the fact that they should not be able to waive the taxes of other municipalities. Thanks to everyone who attended!
March 16, 2012: I was pleased to join Senator Kennedy, Congressman Higgins, Comptroller DiNapoli, Comptroller Schroeder, and many others to dedicate a monument to the Fenian Invasion of 1866 in Tow Path Park. Great work by Senator Kennedy, who worked tirelessly to get this monument in place to honor Irish veterans from Buffalo.
March 2, 2012: I toured the Richardson Center with Monica Pellegrino Faix. Lots of great renovation work underway at this historic Buffalo landmark!
On January 20th, I held a press conference with members of the Coalition for Economic Justice, and the Teamsters at Science Kit in Tonawanda to discuss the need to reform IDAs.
On January 12th, I held a pubic meeting at the Crane Library in Buffalo to hear from residents about the NFTAs misguided plan to cut up to 22% of their service routes.
