Pheffer Amato Opposes City Hall and Municipal Labor Committee in Forcing Retirees to Use Medicare Advantage for Health Insurance

South Queens, NY - Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) issued the following statement upon the vote by the Municipal Labor Committee and the push by City Hall to require City retirees to use Medicare Advantage:

“I am disappointed in the Municipal Labor Committee’s push of this healthcare program forward against the wishes of 250,000 retirees. I have heard from our countless retirees in our community, and while the State Legislature has no involvement in this process, I stand with them in objecting and firmly denouncing this forced switch to Medicare Advantage. This move is a slap in the face to all of the men and women who worked for the City. Our retirees deserve better,” said Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato.
