Pheffer Amato Honors Former RPFD Chief Arthur Lighthall

This past Saturday, at the Rockaway Point Fire Department, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Breezy Point) presented Volunteer Firefighter Arthur Lighthall, who has twice served as Chief of the RPFD, once as President of the Breezy Point Cooperative and several times as President of the New York City Firefighters’ Association, with a proclamation honoring his 50 years of service to the community as a volunteer firefighter.

“I honestly can’t imagine someone who deserves to be honored more,” said Pheffer Amato. “Arthur isn’t just a guy who volunteers – he’s passionate about volunteering, and he inspires others in his community to do the same. He almost single-handedly led the reconstruction of this community after Sandy. Folks who watched how much he gave of himself elected and re-elected Arthur to lead the Volunteers, both in Rockaway Point and city-wide. (When you’re elected twice, in two places, you know you did something right.) We’ve always been appreciative of his service, and I’ve loved working with him as a partner. Arthur, my friend, here’s to fifty years of never stopping. Thanks for sharing your passion for community with all of us. I look forward to coming back for your 100th!”
