Pheffer Amato Honors Fallen Soldiers on Memorial Day

This past Sunday May 27th and Monday May 28th, Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) marched in two parades and attended a memorial service to honor fallen soldiers of South Queens and throughout the United States. On Sunday, while the parade was canceled due to rain, she attended a ceremony in Broad Channel which consisted of a wreath-laying event at the 17th Road Park Flag. On Monday, she joined the Howard Beach Memorial Day Parade at Coleman Square, and then marched in the Rockaway Memorial Day Parade, which commenced on Beach 129th street and finished at Beach 95th / Beach 96th Memorial Plaza in Rockaway Beach.

“As my neighbors know too well, be it on 9/11, during World War II or in Iraq or Afghanistan, sometimes service means paying the ultimate price,” said Pheffer Amato. “It was an honor to stand with so many of my neighbors from all across the district to remember and appreciate those who made our way of life possible. We remember them as heroes and as people, as family members and as friends. Everything we have today, from our freedom to our prosperity, we thank them for.”
