Pheffer Amato Signs on to American Legion Resolution

Albany, New York Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D- Broad Channel) has signed on to a New York State Resolution commemorating the 101st Anniversary of the American Legion.

Over the past 101 years the American Legion has been as an outstanding advocate for those who served our country,” Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato said. “From helping secure the passage of the GI Bill after World War II, to obtaining benefits and services for veterans and their families coming home from the Middle East the American Legion has always been there. I’m so proud to sign on to this resolution commemorating the great work they’ve done for over a century.”

Since its founding on March 15th, 1919 the American Legion has worked tirelessly on behalf of veterans in New York state, but their impact is felt throughout the country – they’ve sponsored American Legion Baseball, Boys State, Legion Riders and countless other programs. The American Legion has had a significant impact on the 23rd Assembly District, specifically through their outpost in Broad Channel. In addition to serving veterans, the American Legion in Broad Channel opens their space frequently to community-based organizations and has hosted annual rain barrel giveaways throughout the years.
