Pheffer Amato Appointed to Science and Technology Committee

Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-South Queens) announced her appointment to the New York State Assembly Standing Committee on Science and Technology. The committee will address the scientific and technological challenges that will help determine the future in this state and will be Chaired by Assemblyman Steve Otis (D-Rye).

“21st century problems require 21st century solutions. State legislatures facing these challenges must be equipped with committees that roll up their sleeves and start the work,” Pheffer Amato said. “I am excited to work on tackling the issues that are going to define the future of the State of New York. We are going to do some amazing work; broadband, digital data policy, and infrastructure, and I thank the Speaker of the Assembly for appointing me to this committee and look forward to partnering with Chairman Otis.”

Chairman Otis added, “The goal of the Science and Technology Committee is to tackle complex emerging technology issues and benefit New Yorkers with policies that are advantageous to our state. I am thrilled that Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato has joined the committee. Stacey is a leader in advocating for New York to play an important role on new technology issues.”

The Science and Technology committee is the first new committee in the Assembly since the Library committee was formed in 1997. The Assemblywoman adds this committee membership to her various others including: Consumer Affairs and Protection; Corporations, Authorities and Commissions; Governmental Employees; Racing and Wagering; and Veterans’ Affairs.
