Barclay Encourages Participants to Send in Completed Summer Reading Challenges

Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I,Ref-Pulaski) today reminded children who are participating in this year’s Assembly Summer Reading Challenge to send in their completed challenge forms. Students who read at least 15 minutes per day for 40 days between July and August should send completed reading challenge forms into Barclay’s office. Participants will receive an official Assembly certificate and be invited to the annual Summer Reading Challenge party on Sep. 30. This year, there will be a party for children 10 and under and another party for kids ages 11-14.

“The Summer Reading Challenge Party is a way to celebrate all the reading these kids have done through the summer,” said Barclay. “Some readers have already sent in their completed challenges, but I hope to receive more during the next several weeks as kids complete the challenge. I always enjoy seeing the challenges come into the office and learning what books the kids like to read.”

Local schools and libraries distributed reading challenges this summer. Families can mail or drop off their completed forms to Assemblyman Barclay’s office at, 200 North Second St., Fulton, NY 13069. If you would like to receive a reading challenge, please contact the office at 315-598-5185 or email at barclayw@nyassembly.gov.
