Leader Barclay, City Of Fulton Working To Make Critical Improvements At Bullhead Point
Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) today announced he is working in partnership with the City of Fulton to secure a $100,000 Capital Grant for facility improvements at Bullhead Point. A 2021 survey showed the city’s senior population identified the lack of restrooms in city parks as a barrier for those seeking to enjoy Fulton’s recreational offerings.
“Not only do the people of Fulton often gather at Bullhead Point to host community events, but the scenic spot is also used for fishing, boating and more,” Leader Barclay said. “As usage and popularity of Bullhead Point have grown, the need for upgraded facilities has become clearer. An investment of state resources will allow the city to make these necessary upgrades and ensure the public continues to enjoy its public parks and recreational opportunities.”
Bullhead Point is located on Route 3/Scenic Seaway Trail on Lake Neatahwanta and hosts a wide range of city-sponsored events as well as community outings sponsored by local organizations. The city’s newly formed Special Events Committee and City Parks Department are offering more entertainment options in Fulton, with Bullhead Point on the lake’s shore. From music festivals to food trucks and ice cream stands, residents and visitors congregating to the park will have improved amenities, aligning with the city’s efforts to boost tourism in the area.
“Recreation Park and Bullhead Point have seen more activity thanks in large part to the City of Fulton’s Special Events Committee. I’d like to thank them for all they are doing for the city and the greater Fulton area to bolster tourism and increase opportunities for people of all ages,” said Leader Barclay.
Funding for the project is available through the State & Municipal Facilities Capital Program. Once approved, the grant would be administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
