Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay, Central Square Leaders Announce $50K For New Park Equipment At Goettel Park

Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay (R,C-Pulaski) today announced he has secured a $50,000 grant for the Village of Central Square to fund a park expansion project at Goettel Park in the Village of Central Square. He recently joined village officials and local leaders to visit the new playground that was recently installed. The grant from Leader Barclay will help fund additional playground equipment compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act to complement recent park improvements. When completed, the park will include multiple slides, swings, and sensory activities.

“I am happy to support this playground project. The new John and Doris Hasto Playground at Goettel Park will offer families with young children in the Village of Central Square and the surrounding area a safe and more inclusive location for play, embrace children of every ability, and encourage positive social experiences among peers,” said Leader Barclay. “I want to commend our local leaders and the Hasto family for their efforts to facilitate these welcome improvements to the playground.”

The project is funded in part by the award of a State and Municipal (SAM) Facilities Grantin collaboration with the Richard S. Shineman Foundation, the Hasto family, support from the local Lion’s Club, and the Village of Central Square There will be a public dedication of the new John and Doris Hasto Playground at Goettel Park on Oct. 5 at 3 p.m.
