Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I,Ref-Canandaigua) speaks at a press conference alongside representatives of Reclaim New York today on the Million-Dollar Staircase in the Capitol. Reclaim New York is urging the state Legislature to remove certain tax increases from the budget and enact reforms that make the state more affordable.

Assembly Minority Leader Kolb said, "The Governor is trying to pinpoint blame on Washington, D.C. and it couldn't be further from the truth. We're 50th in tax burden, 47th in property taxes, 2nd worst in debt, 49th in economic climate, and most recently we're the worst place to retire. That's not politics, those are facts."

Leader Kolb discussed the enormous tax burden placed on New Yorkers. Since 2010, more than 1 million people have left New York State.

Leader Kolb also stressed the importance of promoting unique opportunities to ensure taxpayers are getting a proper return on money invested by the state. He suggested reforming the state's current economic development programs and pushed for a number of financially-focused policy measures.
