The Finger Lakes Region is home to some of the most incredible vineyards in the country. It's rich, fertile land has helped it grow into one of the state's most impressive tourism and viticulture keystones. Each year, the region continues to thrive thanks to the hard work and ingenuity of its small-business owners, their employees and educators dedicated to teaching the art of wine making.
The region's world-class wine industry is only a small part of what makes the area so special. The unique recreational offerings in the Finger Lakes are unparalleled. From concerts at the Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center to the 27th Annual Native American Dance & Music Festival, guests and locals will have plenty of great shows to choose from. For the foodies in the region, the Phelps Sauerkraut Festival, running from August 3 to August 5, will feature contests, races, vendors and a parade. And, for the gearheads, a motorcycle show will also be a key feature at the festival.
FARMERS' MARKETS BRING THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER
There are few other events that embody the spirit of community more than a farmers' market. They combine comradery with local goods and give neighbors a chance to support one another. Two exemplary farmers' markets can be found in Seneca Falls and Canandaigua.
Every Wednesday, from now until October, the Seneca Farmers' Market will offer food and products from area farmers, artisans, bakers and crafters. It is open from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the People's Park, 15 Water St., Seneca Falls. Also, the Canandaigua Farmers' Market, located under the Mill Street Pavilion off Main Street, is open Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. thru October.
CELEBRATE RECREATION MONTH IN THE FINGER LAKES
July is Parks and Recreation Month, and the Finger Lakes Region houses many beautiful destinations and vistas. The Finger Lakes National Forest offers great hiking trails to explore and photograph. They're a great way for the whole family to get some fresh air and exercise while soaking in the area's natural splendor.
