“Halloween is one of the most anticipated holidays for children across the state as they get to dress up as their favorite comic book or television characters, eat candy and enjoy time with friends and family. As we prepare for an evening of trick-or-treating, it’s important we all take the necessary steps to stay safe,” said Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb.

Here are some helpful tips to follow for a safe and successful evening:

• Cross the street at the corners using crosswalks and traffic signals.
• Instruct children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.
• Trick-or-treaters should carry flashlights or glow sticks to ensure they are visible to drivers.
• Children should have adult supervision; trick-or-treat in groups and stick to familiar areas.
• Ensure costumes fit properly and avoid trailing fabric to prevent tripping hazards.
• Avoid decorative contact lenses without first talking to an eye-care professional.

Please help keep our roads safe and be sure not to drink and drive.”
