As we take our first steps into the New Year, I extend the congratulations of the Assembly Majority to Andrew Cuomo on his inauguration to a second term as governor of the great state of New York. We also offer a warm welcome to Kathy Hochul, our new lieutenant governor and look forward to working with her over the next four years.
With a new year and a new legislative term before us, we have new opportunities to continue to work together on behalf of all New Yorkers. There is much work to be done. We must fulfill our promise to the young immigrants of the Empire State and pass the DREAM Act to ensure a quality education and a brighter future for all our students. Hardworking men and women across the state are desperate for a meaningful minimum wage and an affordable place to call home as they struggle to care for their families and climb the ladder of economic opportunity. And we must pursue avenues for job creation and economic development in order to secure the future success of our state.
We look forward to the continued partnership and support of Governor Cuomo and Lieutenant Governor Hochul in the pursuit of innovative and sustainable solutions for a better New York.
