For many years, the Assembly has led the fight to provide paid family leave for all workers in this state. We know there is no greater concern than for the care and safety of our loved ones. Ensuring the protection of paid family leave is a cornerstone of the Assembly Majority's Families First agenda because no one should ever be forced into financial ruin to care for a sick family member or bond with a new child-a commitment we have long held and advocated for.
Today, New York leaders met with Vice President Biden and Governor Cuomo to discuss the importance of passing paid family leave legislation in New York. The meeting reinforced what we know to be true-to ensure a brighter and more economically sound future for our great state, we must work together to pass meaningful legislation that supports working families. The Assembly has passed a strong proposal several years in a row to give families the critical support they need and we look forward to it becoming law this year.
