Speaker Heastie Joins Assemblymember Pam Hunter at PEACE Inc. Eastside Family Resource Center for Senior Bingo Night on Annual Statewide Tour

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour this week with Assemblymember Pam Hunter for Senior Bingo Night at the PEACE Inc. Eastside Family Resource Center to discuss ongoing efforts to alleviate poverty and improve quality of life for families and seniors in Syracuse.

“For over half a century, PEACE, Inc. has fought for a future where no family goes without the resources and services they need to thrive and rise out of poverty,” said Speaker Heastie. “I want to thank Assemblymember Hunter for inviting me here today to play bingo and discuss how we can support this group’s ongoing work.”

“Through incredible programming like Head Start, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Foster Grandparent Program, PEACE, Inc. has provided Syracuse families lifechanging resources for decades,” said Assemblymember Hunter. “I’m honored Speaker Heastie was able to join us today to meet with residents, play bingo and learn the ongoing needs of PEACE Inc, as they continue to lift families out of poverty and toward a brighter tomorrow.”

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Hunter joined Adult and Youth Services Manager Andrea Bernard for Senior Bingo Night at the PEACE Inc. Eastside Family Resource Center services. Since 1968, PEACE, Inc. has worked to provide families support in education, health, employment and family services through programs like Head Start, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Family Resource Centers. The center also provides programs targeted at seniors like the Foster Grandparent Program that empowers seniors to mentor children within their community.

Last year, the PEACE Inc. Eastside Family Resource Center received a $25,000 grant from the Assembly Majority to provide families in need tax preparation support and additional financial education.
