Speaker Heastie Joins Assemblymember Jacobson In the Hudson Valley

Speaker Carl Heastie today joined Assemblymember Jonathan Jacobson in Poughkeepsie during his fourth annual statewide tour. The pair visited the Family Partnership Center, a hub for programs and organizations serving local residents and ate lunch at Alex’s Restaurant, a historic luncheonette in the heart of downtown Poughkeepsie’s business district.
“Year after year, this statewide tour has highlighted the critical organizations and businesses that are the heart and soul of this state,” said Speaker Heastie. “The Family Partnership Center truly makes a difference in the lives of New Yorkers and is an invaluable asset to the Hudson Valley.”
“It was an honor to host Speaker Heastie today in the City of Poughkeepsie,” said Assemblymember Jacobson. “Organizations like the Family Partnership Center are crucial to improving the lives of those who live in the Hudson Valley, and I am proud that the Assembly Majority has supported them and their mission.”
Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Jacobson today visited the Family Partnership Center, an umbrella organization that aims to provide hope, improve lives and strengthen communities in the Hudson Valley.
The Family Partnership Center houses numerous programs and services including primary health care, behavioral health services, youth programming, domestic violence victim services, gun violence prevention, education, services for the homeless and emergency food provisions. The center receives over 70,000 annual client visits. Over half of all visitors utilize between two and five Family Partnership Center services, and 20 percent of visitors access six or more. As part of the Assembly's 2018-19 investment in SNUG, $300,000 was awarded to the Poughkeepsie program.
After their visit to the Family Partnership Center, Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Jacobson stopped for lunch at Alex’s Restaurant, a historic food hub that has been serving in downtown Poughkeepsie for more than 100 years. The family-owned restaurant has passed through four generations and has attracted visitors near and far, including President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
