Earlier today another mass shooting occurred in Sutherland Springs, Texas as members of a local church gathered for worship. My heart is broken for the loved ones of the victims.
Here we stand, another tragedy and we still have had no meaningful conversations in Washington about keeping Americans safe from senseless gun violence. In fact, it is long past time for talking. We can no longer hide from this epidemic. We have to look at ourselves in the mirror and ask if we are doing everything we can to protect our communities from this ongoing violence.
I am calling on my partners in government here in New York, and around the country, to take immediate action to keep guns out of the hands of people who want to cause this kind of unspeakable suffering.
