Speaker Carl Heastie today announced that the following individuals have taken on new roles in the Assembly:
LouAnn Ciccone has been appointed Secretary to the Speaker/Senior Policy Advisor. A veteran of the Assembly and longtime member of the Speaker's senior staff, she previously served as Secretary for Program and Policy.
Julia Mallalieu has been appointed First Deputy Secretary to the Speaker for Program and Policy. She has served in the Assembly since 1995, first as Associate Counsel, and later as Assistant Secretary for Program and Policy. She has been a senior member of Program and Policy staff for several years, most recently serving as Deputy Secretary.
Jennifer Best has been appointed Deputy Secretary to the Speaker for Policy and Legislative Affairs. She began with the Assembly in 2005 as a committee assistant, and has since served as a legislative analyst for various committees and as Assistant Secretary for Program and Policy for the Labor, Governmental Employees, Insurance, Racing and Wagering, and Health Committees and the Taskforce on Women's Issues.
Isa Puello has been appointed Interim Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs. She has served in the Speaker's office most recently as Executive Administrator to the Speaker, and prior to his election as speaker, as Scheduler.
Amy Metcalfe has been appointed Director of Administration. She has worked for the Assembly since 1999, most recently as Deputy Counsel to the Assembly Majority. She began as an intern and research associate, and has since served as Counsel to the Judiciary Committee and Administrative Counsel.
Edward J. Harris III has been appointed Deputy Director of Administration and continues to serve as Director of Operations. He has been with the Assembly since 2002, beginning as Events Coordinator.
Daniel Salvin has been appointed Commissioner of the New York State Legislative Bill Drafting Commission. He previously served in the Assembly as Assistant Secretary for Program and Policy, overseeing the Codes, Judiciary, Corrections and Elections Committees. Prior to coming to the Assembly in 2006, he was the Deputy Director of the Center for Law and Justice in Albany.
