It is with great sadness that I join my colleagues in mourning the death of the longtime dean of the Assembly's Rochester delegation, David F. Gantt.
David was a lifelong public servant and a fierce advocate for his constituents and his community. He had an unwavering commitment to the people of Rochester, which showed in every step of his career, from his time as a youth counselor in Rochester, to serving on the Monroe County Legislature and his more than three decades of service here in the Assembly. David was committed to improving people's lives and ensuring that every New Yorker had the opportunity to succeed. David was a friend and mentor and I will dearly miss him. I know I speak for all my Assembly colleagues in extending my heartfelt condolences and prayers to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
