Agency Mission
The Crime Victims Board (CVB) is responsible for awarding grants to victims and their families for the loss of earnings, medical expenses, and essential personal property as a result of a crime. In addition, CVB provides grants to local agencies which assist witnesses and victims, and serves as the State's advocate for crime victims' rights, needs and interests.
Year-to-Year Change
The Executive recommends an overall decrease to the Crime Victims Board of $438,950, or 1.04 percent. State Operations increased by $140,650, or 3.16 percent, while Local Assistance funding decreased by $579,600, or 1.53 percent.
Legislative Proposals
In State Fiscal Year 1998-99 the Executive vetoed $1,000,000 in funding for additional assistance to the victims of crime. The Assembly provides $1,000,000 to increase the funding for payments to victims and victim service agencies. The proposed funding will strengthen the State's commitment to victims of crimes.
