Agency Mission
The Office of Advocate for Persons with Disabilities (OAPD) provides information and referral services to persons with disabilities. Referrals are made through a statewide hotline and electronic bulletin board service, which together are expected to respond to 44,000 separate inquiries in State Fiscal Year (SFY) 1999-2000. Together with the Department of Health, OAPD funds an Interagency Partnership on Assistive Technology and twelve regional centers which help persons with disabilities to have access to technology devices and services.
Year-to-Year Change
The Executive recommends an All Funds appropriation of $1,687,000, a net decrease of $95,000, or 5.33 percent. This decrease is the direct result of negative funding actions taken at the federal level. A General Fund increase offsets more than 50 percent of the Federal Fund decrease, bringing total recommended General Fund support to $1,015,000. No change in service levels is anticipated.
Legislative Changes
The Assembly makes no changes to the Executive's proposal.
