Agency Mission

The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) was created to administer the post-1980 Winter Olympic program for the facilities in Lake Placid and the region. In 1984, the Authority's responsibilities expanded to include the management of Gore Mountain Ski Center in Warren County. ORDA hosts numerous national and international athletic and entertainment events.

Year-to-Year Change

On an All Fund basis, the Governor proposed an increase of $110,000 in State appropriations for the Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA). However, when one-time funding is removed from the 1998-99 base, the increase is $2,100,000 or 46.3 percent.

Legislative Proposals

The Governor's proposed increase includes $2,000,000 for the 2000 Inaugural Winter Goodwill Games which will be held during February 2000. This event will be the largest such international event held in Lake Placid since the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. The Assembly plan makes no changes to this proposal.
