  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend to amend chapter 846 of the laws of 1970, amending the county law relating to payment in lieu of taxes for property acquired for park or recreational purposes, in relation to extending the term of effectiveness of such chapter   PURPOSE: To extend until June 30, 2030 the authorization to Nassau County to make payments in lieu of taxes on certain parklands in Lido Beach-Point Look- out area.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 2 of Chapter 846 of the Laws of 1970 amending the County law is amended as it pertains to the payment in lieu of taxes by Nassau County to certain districts in the Lido Beach area by extending its termination date from June 30, 2025 to June 30, 2030. Section 2 sets forth the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: The Long Beach City School District has reached its constitutional tax limit so that these payments have now become crucial to its fiscal wellbeing. Similar bills extending this legislation have been passed and signed into law on five prior occasions (1975-80, 1980-85, 1985-90, 1990-95, 1995-2000, 2000-2005, 2005-2010, 2010-2015, 2015-2020, 2020-2025.)   LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: Chapter 58 of 2020; Chapter 41 of 2015; Chapter 248 of 2010; and Chapter 130 of 2005.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None to the State.   EFFECTIVE DATE: This bill would take effect immediately.

        AN  ACT  to amend to amend chapter 846 of the laws of 1970, amending the
          county law relating to payment in lieu of taxes for property  acquired
          for  park  or recreational purposes, in relation to extending the term
          of effectiveness of such chapter

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 2 of chapter 846 of the laws of 1970, amending the
     2  county law relating to payment in lieu of taxes  for  property  acquired
     3  for  park or recreational purposes, as amended by section 1 of item U of
     4  subpart B of part XXX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is  amended  to
     5  read as follows:
     6    §  2.  This  act shall take effect July 1, 1970 but shall be operative
     7  only to and including June 30, [2025] 2030.
     8    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
