PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
Permits the town of Putnam Valley, Putnam county, to lease sport field
fences for advertisements
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1 - Sports field fence leases in the town of Putnam Valley,
Putnam county. Notwithstanding any provision of any general, special or
local law or of any charter to the contrary, the town of Putnam Valley,
Putnam county, may lease municipal sports field fences of Leonard Wagner
Memorial Park, annually, at a nominal rent, to a not-for-profit corpo-
ration or organization, organized under the laws of the state of New
York for the purpose of permitting the sale of advertising, with the
revenues to be used solely by such town's department of parks and recre-
ation.
JUSTIFICATION:
The town of Putnam Valley has a number of sports fields under its juris-
diction, and wants the ability to sell space on the fences of those
fields located within Leonard Wagner Memorial Park for the purposes of
advertising in order to increase the revenue of the town's parks and
recreation department to improve and better maintain said sports fields.
Additionally, this may reduce the tax burden on residents of the town.

AN ACT to amend the general municipal law, in relation to permitting the

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The general municipal law is amended by adding a new
2 section 77-j to read as follows:
3 § 77-j. Sports field fence leases in the town of Putnam Valley, Putnam
4 county. Notwithstanding any provision of any general, special or local
5 law or of any charter to the contrary, the town of Putnam Valley, Putnam
6 county, may lease any and all sports field fences at Leonard Wagner
7 Memorial Park, annually, at a nominal rent, to a not-for-profit corpo-
8 ration or organization, organized under the laws of the state of New
9 York for the purpose of permitting the sale of advertising, with the
10 revenues to be used solely for the care of such Leonard Wagner Memorial
11 Park in the town of Putnam Valley, Putnam county.
12 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
