  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 549 of the laws of 1994, amending the public authorities law relating to the membership composition of the metropol- itan transportation authority board, in relation to extending the effec- tiveness of such provisions   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill extends until 2028 the non-membership composition of the metropolitan transportation authority board   SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends Section 1263 of the public authorities law to extend the non-voting membership and board composition through June 30, 2028. Section 2 sets the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: Theses provisions extend the non-voting members and alternate non-voting members of the MTA board, who provide important perspectives from regu- lar users of the system and from labor organizations representing the authority's employees. It is important to extend their positions on the board to ensure that as non-voting members and rotating alternates that they continue to share their insights on perspective decisions before the board and improve outcomes for their peers throughout the community.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New Bill.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.

        AN  ACT  to  amend  chapter 549 of the laws of 1994, amending the public
          authorities law relating to the membership composition of  the  metro-
          politan  transportation  authority board, in relation to extending the
          effectiveness of such provisions
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1. Section 3 of chapter 549 of the laws of 1994, amending the
     2  public authorities law relating to the  membership  composition  of  the
     3  metropolitan  transportation authority board, as amended by section 1 of
     4  item X of subpart B of part XXX of chapter 58 of the laws  of  2020,  is
     5  amended to read as follows:
     6    §  3.  This act shall take effect January 1, 1995 and shall expire and
     7  be deemed repealed on June 30,  [2024]  2028  and  upon  such  date  the
     8  provisions  of law amended by this act shall revert to and be read as if
     9  the provisions of this act had not been enacted.
    10    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
