  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend chapter 427 of the laws of 2017 amending the state tech- nology law relating to the creation of a state information technology innovation center, in relation to the effectiveness thereof   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this legislation is to allow for the continuance of oper- ation of the state information technology innovation center, or "iCen- ter" which develops, pilots, and considers technology solutions to assist state agencies, authorities, municipalities and other government entities.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one of this bill extends the expiration of chapter 427 of the Laws of 2017 to June 30th, 2028.   JUSTIFICATION: Chapter 427 of the Laws of 2017 permitted the state director of the office of information technology services to operate a state information technology innovation center. This center assesses developing technolo- gies in cloud computing, security, and other operations, and would substantiates technology that has not been utilized or measured across the state enterprise, but is considered to be strategically important by agency Chief Information Officers. It has been proven that it is in the State's best interest to have this center continue its operations. This legislation extends ITS's authorization to operate this center through June 30th, 2028.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: To be determined.   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall have become a law and shall expire and be deemed repealed June 30, 2020.

        AN ACT to amend chapter 427 of the laws of 2017 amending the state tech-
          nology  law relating to the creation of a state information technology
          innovation center, in relation to the effectiveness thereof

          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section 2 of chapter 427 of the laws of 2017 amending the
     2  state technology law relating to the creation  of  a  state  information
     3  technology  innovation  center,  as  amended  by section 1 of item AA of
     4  subpart B of part XXX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is  amended  to
     5  read as follows:
     6    §  2.  This  act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
     7  have become a law and shall expire  and  be  deemed  repealed  June  30,
     8  [2024] 2028.
