TITLE OF BILL:
 
An act directing the metropolitan transportation authority to rename the
Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd subway station the Lefferts Blvd-Little Guyana
subway station
 
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:;
 
This bill will rename the current "Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard"
station on the IND Fulton Street line of the New York City subway as
"Lefferts Boulevard-Little Guyana."
 
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:;
 
Section 1. The Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd subway station on the IND Fulton
Street line of the New York city subway is hereby named the0Lefferts
Blvd-Little Guyana subway station. The MTA shall ensure that all signs,
maps, and any other items issued by the MTA are updated to accurately
reflect the new name of such station within such time and in such manner
as the MTA shall deem appropriate.
 
Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
 
 
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ORIGINAL AND AMENDED VERSION (IF APPLICABLE):
 
 
JUSTIFICATION:
 
Little Guyana is a vibrant neighborhood in South Queens. At its heart is
the intersection of Liberty Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard, now known as
Little Guyana Avenue, which faces the Ozone Park-Lefferts Blvd subway
station. Renaming the station would give proper recognition to this
beloved neighborhood and to New York's Guyanese-American community.
