TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend a chapter of the laws of 2024 authorizing the town of
Southampton, county of Suffolk, to enact by a local law a homestead
exemption, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S. 2094-A and A.
3872-A, in relation to authorizing a town with a population between
69,000 and 69,500 to enact a homestead exemption by a local law and in
relation to the effectiveness thereof
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
The purpose of this bill is to effectuate an amendment to chapter 645 of
the laws of 2024 in relation to authorizing a town with a population
between 69,000 and 69,500, to enact a homestead exemption by a local law
and in relation to the effectiveness thereof.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section one makes technical amendments to clarify the scope of the
exemption and requirements for eligibility.
Section two makes technical amendments to clarify the application of the
exemption.
Section three is the effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This chapter makes technical amendments to ensure the effectiveness and
correct implementation of chapter 645 of the laws of 2024.

This bill is a chapter amendment to chapter 645 of the laws of 2024.
 
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:
Undetermined.
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately; provided however, that section
one of this act shall take effect on the same date and in the same
manner as a chapter of the laws of 2024 authorizing the town of South-
ampton, county of Suffolk, to enact by a local law a homestead
exemption, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.2094-A and
A.3872-A, takes effect.
