WELCOMING students from Thurgood Marshall
Academy's National Honor Society and Student
Government organizations to the Legislative Chambers
in Albany, New York, on March 19, 2025
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
welcome the students from Thurgood Marshall Academy's National Honor
Society and Student Government organizations to the Legislative Chambers
in Albany, New York, on March 19, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Student involvement in academic and extracurricular clubs
and organizations fosters personal growth, leadership skills, and a
sense of community while also encouraging teamwork, friendship building,
and the development of communication abilities; and
WHEREAS, Engaging in such activities often boosts academic
performance and prepares students for future challenges by promoting
responsibility, creativity, and problem-solving, making it an essential
part of their overall education experience; and
WHEREAS, Student Government encourages student leadership,
responsibility, and participation in decision-making; it provides a
platform for students to voice concerns, advocate for changes, and
engage with school administration to invoke lasting, positive changes,
all while promoting a sense of school spirit and unity; and
WHEREAS, National Honor Society (NHS) focuses on empowering,
championing, and recognizing well-rounded students; NHS provides schools
with a values-based framework to elevate a culture of scholarship,
service, leadership, and character; the students inducted into this
prestigious organization represent academic, service-based, and
leadership excellence; and
WHEREAS, Our youth hold the key to shaping the future, as they
possess the vision, energy, and potential to drive meaningful change; by
empowering and guiding them today, we nurture the leaders, innovators,
and change-makers of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, The ideas, actions, and determination of New York's
precious youth will pave the way for a brighter, more inclusive world
for generations to come, and it is the honor of this Legislative Body to
welcome the students of Thurgood Marshall Academy and commend them upon
their numerous achievements; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the members of the New York State Legislature extend
a warm welcome to the students of Thurgood Marshall Academy to the
Legislative Chambers in Albany on March 19, 2025; and be it further
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
acknowledge the students of Thurgood Marshall Academy for their
commitment to the revered principles of student leadership, academic
success, and upstanding character; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate and Assembly applauds the students of
Thurgood Marshall Academy, wishing them future success in all their
endeavors and thank them for their meaningful visit to the State
Capitol.
