CONGRATULATING the Candor Junior-Senior High
School Girls' Volleyball Team upon the occasion of
capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA Section IV Class D
Championship
WHEREAS, Individual and team championships are highly sought after
in high school sports; this Legislative Body commends rare athletic
achievements and pays special recognition to those who pursue such
excellence and become examples for the youth of this great Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition helps to enhance both the moral and
physical development of athletes, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the importance of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, and developing a sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Candor Junior-Senior High School Girls' Volleyball Team upon the
occasion of capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA Section IV Class D Championship
at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, New York, on Saturday,
November 23, 2024; and
WHEREAS, To the praise and applause of their excited fans, the
Coyotes defeated Newfield High School in a thrilling victory to capture
the Section IV Class D title; to win the Class D Regional Final, Candor
also defeated LaFayette High School; and
WHEREAS, At the NYSPHSAA Class D State Tournament, Candor defeated
Mekeel Christian Academy, Tuxedo High School, and Ellicottville High
School in the Pool Play round to advance to the finals; the defeat of
Ellicottville, with a score of 3-2, made Candor the victor of the
NYSPHSAA Class D Championship; and
WHEREAS, Family, friends, and the community loyally and
enthusiastically supported the Coyotes; the team finished the season
with a record of 22 wins and only one loss; this was the fourth state
volleyball title in Candor's history; and
WHEREAS, In a sport such as volleyball, which demands athletic
prowess, speed, and agility, the Candor Junior-Senior High School Girls'
Volleyball Team worked hard to hone their skills, learning lessons which
will prove invaluable both on and off the field; and
WHEREAS, All the outstanding athletes on the Candor Junior-Senior
High School Girls' Volleyball Team have clearly utilized dedication,
determination, and teamwork in providing a lasting contribution to the
spirit of excellence which is a tradition of their school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Candor Junior-Senior High School Girls' Volleyball
Team: Kathryn Stouffer, Phoebe Swartz, Malley Heidl, Ava Fernando,
Keanna Fay, Ryleigh Bowman, Emmi McCracken, Nicola Soper, Leilani Lane,
Hazel Ray, Kiera Austin, Emmi Makie, Tracy Reynolds, and Jillian
Teribury; Head Coach Pam Quinlan; and Assistant Coaches, Michael Swartz
and Brittney Noble upon the occasion of capturing the 2024 NYSPHSAA
Section IV Class D Championship; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the members of the Candor Junior-Senior High School
Girls' Volleyball Team; Head Coach Pam Quinlan; and Assistant Coaches,
Michael Swartz and Brittney Noble.
