  TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Samuel Trombley Memorial Bridge"   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill renames the bridge, at the intersection of state Route 11 and state Route 190, in the town of Ellenburg, Clinton County, as the "Samu- el Trombley Memorial Bridge."   SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS: Section 1 - Renames the bridge, at the intersection of state Route 11 and state Route 190, BIN 1039640 971LX, in the town of Ellenburg, Clin- ton County the "Samuel Trombley Bridge". Section 2 - Provides for the installation and maintenance of adequate signage and designates the renaming as ceremonial. Section 3 - Provides effective date   DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ORIGINAL AND AMENDED VERSION (IF APPLICABLE): The amendment re-letters the section of law being added.   JUSTIFICATION: Samuel J. Trombley served on the Clinton County Legislature, represent- ing Area 2, from 1983 until 2011. With 28 years in office, Trombley's tenure is the longest in the history of the county legislature. Through- out his tenure, Trombley served with dedication and distinction.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: 2022: A.7832-A - Passed Assembly.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: De minimis   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately.

        AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of
          the state highway system as the "Samuel Trombley Memorial Bridge"
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-p to
     2  read as follows:
     3    § 344-p. Portion of the state highway system to be designated  as  the
     4  "Samuel  Trombley  Memorial Bridge".   The bridge at the intersection of
     5  state route eleven and state route one hundred ninety, designated bridge
     6  number 1039640 971LX, which crosses over the north branch of  the  Great
     7  Chazy  River,  in  the  town  of  Ellenburg, county of Clinton, shall be
     8  designated and known as the "Samuel Trombley Memorial Bridge".
     9    § 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the  instal-
    10  lation  and  maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system
    11  as designated pursuant to section one of this  act.  However,  to  avoid
    12  confusion  and  to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig-
    13  nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall  be  one  of
    14  ceremonial  nature  and  the  official  name of such bridge shall not be
    15  changed as a result of this act.
    16    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
