TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the general business law, in relation to lease vehicle

PURPOSE OF BILL:
Makes provisions relating to lease vehicle protections.
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 396-z of the general business law is amended by adding a new
subdivision 15 to read as follows: Every lease shall itemize and set
forth in detail all costs required to be paid by the leasee or purchaser
of the rental vehicle upon termination of such lease.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill will work better to protect the leasee of a vehicle by making
the leaser supply a list of itemized costs to be paid at the end of the
lease. This will let the leasee know all the costs that he/she will be
expected to pay so there will be no surprise costs and they will be
fully aware of their financial commitment.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall 7 have
become a law; provided, however, that subdivision 17 of section 8 396-z
of the general business law, as added by section one of this act, 9
shall survive the expiration and reversion of such section as provided
10 in subdivision (a) of section 4 of chapter 109 of the laws of 2018.

The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 396-z of the general business law is amended by
2 adding a new subdivision 17 to read as follows:
