TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend chapter 465 of the laws of 2016, amending the tax law
relating to authorizing the city of Hudson to impose hotel and motel
taxes, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof
 
PURPOSE OF THE BILL:
This bill would extend authorization for the City of Hudson to collect
an occupancy tax on short-term lodgers.
 
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
§ 1: Extends Chapter 465 of the Laws of 2016, which authorizes the City
of Hudson to impose an occupancy tax for hotels and motels, until 2027.
§ 2: Effective date.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
The city of Hudson requested this legislation to extend the authori-
zation for their hotel and motel tax. This authorization is set to
expire at the end of 2025, and this bill would extend it through 2027.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS:
This will continue to raise revenues for the City of Hudson and its
residents.
 
EFFECTIVE DATE:

AN ACT to amend chapter 465 of the laws of 2016, amending the tax law
relating to authorizing the city of Hudson to impose hotel and motel
taxes, in relation to extending the effectiveness thereof
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. Section 2 of chapter 465 of the laws of 2016, amending the
2 tax law relating to authorizing the city of Hudson to impose hotel and
3 motel taxes, as amended by chapter 404 of the laws of 2022, is amended
4 to read as follows:
5 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be
6 deemed repealed December 1, [2025] 2027.
7 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
