A06575 Memo:

NEW YORK STATE ASSEMBLY
MEMORANDUM IN SUPPORT OF LEGISLATION
submitted in accordance with Assembly Rule III, Sec 1(f)

BILL NUMBER: A6575

SPONSOR: Fahy
TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the social services law and the public health law, in relation to home visiting programs   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to require an online resource for families to access information regarding New York State's home visiting programs.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Sections 1-5 amends certain sections of social services and public health law to require the office of children and family services and the department of health to make available home visiting program information to the council on children and families for an internet mapping resource. The internet mapping resource would include the following information; program name, program address and phone number, as well as, program recipient eligibility criteria. Section 6 provides the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: Current information regarding home visiting programs is scattered and infrequently updated. By including information about home visiting programs on the Council on Children and Families internet mapping resource, it would ensure regular updates and more comprehensive infor- mation is included, allowing increased accessibility of services for eligible families. In addition, the bill would ensure the mapping resource would permanently be available online to the public.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: This is new legislation   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: None   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect on the 90th day after it shall become a law.
