TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the executive law, in relation to certain contact infor- mation provided to crime victims   PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: The purpose of this bill is to effectuate an amendment to Chapter 574 of the laws of 2024, ensuring that updated and accurate contact information for crime victims is provided through the district attorney's office and other relevant entities, as outlined in Section 646-a of the executive law.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one: * Clarifies the obligation of the district attorney to provide crime victims with updated contact information at the time of sentencing or as soon as possible thereafter. * Requires the inclusion of contact details for the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision's Office of Victim Assistance, replacing outdated references to the State Board of Parole. * Includes the address and phone number of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision's Office of Victim Assistance. Section two is the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: This chapter amendment ensures that crime victims and their families have accurate, up-to-date contact information for the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision's Office of Victim Assistance. By replacing outdated references and expanding the scope of information provided, the bill improves accessibility for victims seeking updates on incarceration status or other related matters. These amendments align with the state's commitment to supporting crime victims by ensuring clarity and ease of access to resources.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: New bill.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: None.   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately; provided, however, that section one of this act shall take effect on the same date and in the same manner as Chapter 574 of the laws of 2024 amending the executive law relating to notifications and rights of crime victims, as proposed in legislative bills numbers S.5502 and A.4199.
