  TITLE OF BILL: An act to authorize Brian Levy of the village of Wappingers Falls to take the competitive civil service examination for the position of police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as a full-time police officer for the village of Wappingers Falls police department   PURPOSE: To allow Brian Levy to sit for the civil service examination for police officer and contingent on his score be placed on the eligible list for appointment.   SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 deems Brian Levy eligible to sit for the competitive civil service examination for police officer and, contingent on his score shall be eligible for placement on the eligible list for appointment. Section 2 requires the candidate to be subject to all other relevant provisions of the civil service law regarding police officers. Section 3 provides the effective date.   JUSTIFICATION: The Village of Wappingers Falls Police Commissioner has requested legis- lation exempting Brian Levy from the age requirement to take the next civil service police exam and be placed on the eligible list for appointment. Brian Levy is currently a part-time police officer with the Village of Wappingers Falls and would be an asset to the department.   LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: None.   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS: None.   EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately.

        AN ACT to authorize Brian Levy of the village  of  Wappingers  Falls  to
          take  the  competitive  civil  service examination for the position of
          police officer and be placed on the eligible list for employment as  a
          full-time  police  officer  for the village of Wappingers Falls police
          department
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
     2  service law, including the  age  requirements  under  paragraph  (a)  of
     3  subdivision  1  of  such  section,  or any other provision of law to the
     4  contrary, Brian Levy, employed by the village of  Wappingers  Falls,  in
     5  the county of Dutchess, as a part-time police officer, shall be eligible
     6  to  take  the  competitive civil service examination for the position of
     7  police officer and shall, contingent upon his score on such examination,
     8  be eligible to be placed on the eligible list for appointment as a full-
     9  time police officer with the village of Wappingers Falls police  depart-
    10  ment.
    11    §  2.  Brian  Levy shall otherwise be subject to the merit and fitness
    12  provisions of the civil service law applicable to full-time police offi-
    13  cers.
    14    § 3. This act shall take effect immediately.
