Provides that local code enforcement officers may issue blanket orders extending the expiration date for all active building permits for a period of up to but not exceeding 120 days beyond the expiration date stated in the permit.

TITLE OF BILL:
An act relating to authorizing local governments to extend building
permits and local zoning boards of appeals and local planning boards
active approvals for a period of up to 120 days; and providing for the
repeal of such provisions upon the expiration thereof
 
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL:
To allow local governments the ability to extend the expiration of
building permits and local zoning boards of appeals and local planning
boards active approvals issued before March 7, 2020 for 120 days without
the need to make individual determinations.
 
SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:
Section 1: Allows local governments to issue blanket orders extending
the expiration of building permits or local zoning boards of appeals and
local planning boards active approvals for 120 days.
Section 2: Provides for an immediate effective date, which will expire
on December 31, 2021.
 
JUSTIFICATION:
This bill will allow a local governments the ability to issue blanket
orders extending any building or local zoning boards of appeals and
local planning boards active approvals issued before March 7, 2020 an
additional 120 days. This is a necessary measure given the pending
pandemic and the impact that it will have on building projects.

EFFECTIVE DATE:
This act shall take effect immediately and expire on December 31, 2021.
