        AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to qualification to
          hold the position of assessor of the village in the village  of  Upper
          Nyack
 
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a
     2  new subdivision 71 to read as follows:
     3    71. In the village of Upper Nyack, in  the  county  of  Rockland,  the
     4  provisions  of  this  section requiring a person to be a resident of the
     5  political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which he
     6  or she shall be chosen or within which his or her official functions are
     7  required to be exercised, shall not prevent a person  from  holding  the
     8  office  of  assessor of the village provided that such person resides in
     9  the county in which such village is located or an adjoining county with-
    10  in the state of New York. Provided, however, the person  performing  the
    11  functions  of  village assessor in any other village shall be an elector
    12  of such village, unless otherwise provided by law.
    13    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
