This legislation would require the Commissioner of the Department of Motor Vehicles to add a distinctive mark upon request indicating that a driver has autism spectrum disorder. This would allow for medical professionals, members of law enforcement, and other members of the community to recognize that individuals with autism spectrum disorder may have an impediment that will keep them from conumnicating efficient- ly with responding medical professionals or members of law enforcement. The option to add the distinctive mark will also be made available to non-license New York State identification cards.   PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY: None   FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS: None   EFFECTIVE DATE: This act shall take effect immediately
