AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to publication of
nursing home ratings
The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-bly, do enact as follows:
1 Section 1. The public health law is amended by adding a new section
2 2808-e to read as follows:
3 § 2808-e. Nursing home ratings. 1. The commissioner shall provide that
4 the most recent star rating of every nursing home facility in the
5 state, assigned pursuant to the inspection rating system of the U.S.
6 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (overall CMS rating), shall
7 be prominently displayed on the home page of the department's website,
8 or by an easily accessible link to such information.
9 2. Each nursing home facility shall post its overall CMS rating on the
10 homepage of any website maintained by such facility and on any website
11 or webpage relating to such facility maintained by an entity which owns
12 or operates such facility. Each nursing home shall also conspicuously
13 post its most recent overall CMS rating so that it is visible to the
14 general public and to residents.
15 § 2. This act shall take effect on the ninetieth day after it shall
16 have become a law.
