KRUEGER, GOUNARDES, LIU -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Health -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first and second report, ordered to a third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to requiring informa- tion on concussions to be provided to all parents of children playing tackle football The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Article 25 of the public health law is amended by adding a 2 new title 7 to read as follows: 3 TITLE VII 4 YOUTH SPORTS 5 Section 2595. Football programs; information on concussions. 6 § 2595. Football programs; information on concussions. 1. All tackle 7 football programs in the state shall provide an informational packet 8 about concussions and sub-concussive blows, and the injuries that might 9 occur as a result of receiving such blows, to the parents or guardians 10 of all children participating in such tackle football program. The 11 informational packet shall be provided by the department and shall be 12 available to be downloaded free of charge from the department's website. 13 2. For the purposes of this section, "tackle football program" shall 14 include any practice, game or other activity which involves engaging in 15 tackle football and which is organized by a school, adult, or public or 16 private league or other entity whose purpose is to allow children to 17 participate in contact football. 18 § 2.
